“A Sleeping Love” | Antique Pyrography
Description
“A Sleeping Love” | Antique PyrographyGosh, it looks like Cupids seen better days. This extremely unusual, early 20th century pyrography scene depicts Cupid keeled over on his side with a rather agonized expression. The official title on the back is A Sleeping Love but someone scrawled in pencil above it, died of mischief, which I thought was extremely funny. Refer to photos for size and condition: Very good; some wear to the paint.
Displays beautifully and will definitely fool your guests
Refer to photos for size & condition: Wear all around to the fragile silk
Refer to photos for size & condition: Standard cabinet card size
This particular card depicts a sedge warbler
The piece is in oustanding condition & retains one half of its original box
“But just immersed in joys Hymenial…” They couldn’t say very simply that the poor man was only just married when he died
I believe it’s meant to be the infant Christ
Stated first edition
or whatever else needs an elegant little home on your vanity table
Sometimes folks ask how casket or coffin plates come to market: The plates were removed before burial and retained by the family as keepsakes
The flowers are made of cloth- kits were available for women to assemble them at home as a popular craft
but this is not the first time I’ve seen a 6-legged spider in antiques from this era
